Walton House has a resident chef who prepares fresh nutritional food every day. There is a set menu, but alternatives are always available.  There is a four week rotation and changes are made according to the season.  Clients are encouraged to use the dining room but can take their meals in their own rooms if they so wish.

Special needs are catered for, e.g. diabetes, swallowing difficulties, high/low calorie diets. Snacks and hot and cold drinks are also available throughout the day. Walton House has achieved the Lancashire County Council Food Hygiene 5 Star Award.

“We looked at how people living at Walton House Nursing Home were supported with eating and drinking.  Three of the people living at the service that we spoke with told us the food was very good.  The visitors we spoke with and the Nurse Clinician who visited the service weekly, told us the food was of a’ high standard.’  The cook told us that people could always have something they liked if they didn’t want what was on the menu for that day and this was confirmed by the people we spoke with    We noted that people’s special dietary requirements, such as diabetic and soft or pureed diets, were displayed in the kitchen and the cook told us these meals were prepared using the same ingredients as those provided to people with special dietary requirements, so that everyone could experience the same flavours.  The meals looked appetising and hot and the portions were ample.  The atmosphere in the dining room was relaxed and staff interacted with people throughout the meal.”
